HOW TO LEARN THE  LETTER  oy

Make an index card with the letter oy on it in black
Then make one in red
And then make one in green.
And another in blue.

Then make a set of index cards in big letters and again in black, red, blue, and green.
Do the same with small letters and really big letters.

Why the different sizes and colors? Because while a linear learner might be able to see this letter in a different font is still the same letter many of these kids (fragmented learners) cannot.  So we learn it in different colors, different sizes, and different fonts.

Now you should have a deck that looks like this.

Show the card with oy on it

oy

and say
What is this letter?
The only acceptable answer is “oy”
Only "oy" is acceptable.

There are to be no associations, illustrations, or hints of any type.

What is this?

oy

oy

Do not do anything except say

"What is this?"  and show the card

oy

"oy" is the only acceptable answer.

If he gets it wrong. No big deal. Don't sigh or frown or get angry. Just say “no this is oy”.

Do it as much as possible. 10 times per day minimum, thirty times per day is better.  Each episode should last less than thirty seconds.  Ten times a day only comes out to 5 minutes per day.  Do it day after day until he gets it.  Two days two weeks, who cares? Just keep doing it until he gets it.

Do not rush him.
Do not sit in judgment of him.
Just keep working on it but remember when i say working on it I mean  the "lessons" are only to last no longer than thirty to sixty seconds then take a break of oy least 10 minutes

Do it the in the morning at the breakfast table.
Do it in the car.
Do it at the movies.
Do it during television-during every single commercial
Hang it up all over the house
Hang it on trees in the backyard
paste it on the bathroom mirror
paste it on the toilet seat

Ultimoyely when you show him the letter oy
you say: what is this?
his answer must be oy
nothing else--just oy

you say:   what is this?
He says: oy
If he gets it wrong just say no this is the letter oy

Once he gets these cards we need to add different fonts.  This is because while a regular learner might be able to see this a letter in a different font is still the same letter many of these kids cannot.  So we learn it in different fonts

Now make some cards in the font verdana because thoy is what they use on many websites.

Also make them in times roman because thoy is the way books are written

a poem of oy and oi

Royal
Prince Doyle
of Troy
was a boy
who was spoiled

he had lots of  toys
and made too much  noise
and exploited
the loyals
who toiled
to spoil
the royals

one day he pointed
and thus he anointed
a boy from Troy
to be Prince Of Joy
his job was to spoil
Royal Prince Doyle

but

The Prince Of Joy
foiled
the spoiled Royal
when he boiled
some oil
and tossed in
young  Doyle
