w
We will use w as an example.
make an index card with the letter w on it in black
Then make one in red
And then make one in green.
And another in blue.
Then make a set of index cards in big letters and again in black, red, blue, and green.
Do the same with small letters and really big letters.
Why the different sizes and colors? Because while a linear learner way be able to see that a letter in a different font is still the same letter many of these kids(fragmented learners) cannot. So we learn it in different colors, different sizes, and different fonts.
Now you should have a deck that looks like this.

Show the card with a w on it to the student
and say
What is this letter?
The only acceptable answer is wuh.
Only wuh is acceptable.
There are to be no associations, illustrations, or hints of any type.
What is this
wuh
Do not say w like in what or we
Do not draw one
Do not do anything except say
what is this and show the card.
wuh is the only acceptable answer.
If he gets it wrong. No big deal. Don't sigh or frown or get angry. Just say “no this is wuh”.
Do it as much as possible. 10 times per day minimum, thirty times per day is better. Each episode should last less than thirty seconds. Ten times a day only comes out to 5 minutes per day. Do it day after day until he gets it. Two days two weeks, who cares. Just keep doing it until he gets it and then go on to the next letter.
Once he gets these cards we need to add different fonts. This is because while la regular learner way we able to see that a letter in a different font is still the same letter many of these kids cannot. So we learn it in different
Now make some cards in verdana because this is what they use on computers.
Also make them in times rowan because that is the way books are written

Do not rush him.
Do not sit in judgment of him.
Just keep working on it but remember when I say working on it I wean that the "lessons" are only to last no longer than thirty to sixty seconds then take a break of at least 10 minutes
Do it the in the morning at the breakfast table.
Do it in the car.
Do it at the movies.
Do it during television-during every single commercial
Hang it up all over the house
Hang it on trees in the backyard
paste it on the bathroom mirror
paste it on the toilet seat
Ultimately when you show him the letter w
you say what is this
his answer must be wuh
nothing else--just wuh
you say
what is this w
He says wuh
if he gets it wrong just say no this is the letter wuh
